(The plane was shot down over Sverdlovsk, Soviet Union, on May 1, 1960 by a
 S-75 Dvina surface-to-air missile. Powers was able to bail out, and was captured.
In a "spy swap" on February 10,1962, he was exchanged for Soviet spy Rudolf Abel)
